Born in Montespertoli in a modest family of labourers, tenor Amedeo Bassi emerged thanks to the beauty and extraordinary intensity of his voice, as well as his great commitment to study and work. He became an renowned artist in an era in which opera was greatly appreciated from the public: opera music accompanied everyday life, the characters had lives of their own and opera singers were folk heroes.
